The Community Development Foundation lent a helping hand to some of the residents of Actonville when they donated sanitary pads, bread and soup on recently.

Some of the elderly women received blankets to keep them warm this winter.

Founder of the foundation Past Barlin Govender said the pandemic has been heartbreaking and many people have lost their jobs and they don’t know where their next meal will come from.

“I chose Actonville because I am a former resident and I want to give back. I also encourage others not to forget where they come from,” said Govender.

“My passion is to assist those who are less fortunate. Some residents, especially those who are poor, have lost confident and hope, but we want to bring back hope again.”

The foundation visits Actonville every three months. They also shared prayer and words of encouragement with the community.

Govender said last year they donated about 500 000 food parcels to those in need.
