Past Richard Anderson from Charisma Kerk in Northmead is calling all Benonians to be the village that raises the children who call Huis Thandi and Huis Charis home.

The church has been running the two centres registered under Umephi for more than 15 years and needs donations to keep the places running and to continue providing a safe home with warm beds, clothes and specialised care.

House Thandi was founded in 2004 and caters to children aged between one month and three years.

The home has nine children from seven months to two years old.

Huis Charis, founded in 2001, caters to children aged between three and 18 years. There are five boys and four girls between the ages of six and 14 years old.

The two houses serve the community as a haven for infants abandoned by their parents and children who are removed from their parents’ care because of abuse.

They also bring in clinical psychologists and provide play therapy for children who need these services.

The houses have created a list of items that they urgently need.
