Alleged Ekurhuleni serial rapist now facing 61 counts of rape

Some of the rape cases date back to 2012, with the most recent case being July 2020.

The alleged Ekurhuleni serial rapist appeared in the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court again yesterday (June 7) and has abandoned his bail application.

The 37-year-old has now been charged with 61 counts of rape, two counts of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and robbery.

He will reappear in court on July 27 for his case to be transferred to the Gauteng High Court.

Some of the rape cases date back to 2012, with the most recent case being July 2020.

The police were searching for the suspect for nearly nine years when he was arrested in Barcelona, Etwatwa, on March 17.

He will be remanded in custody until his next appearance.
