The Etwatwa police are investigating a case of murder after an 18-year-old learner was shot dead on June 1 in Mandela Section at around 19:00.
Etwatwa SAPS spokesperson Sgt Khensani Mathebula said the youngster was walking home from the gym during load-shedding.
“As he was passing through one of the passages in the area, he was robbed of his cellphone and shot in the upper body,” said Mathebula.
“It is unclear how many suspects were involved. The learner was declared dead upon arrival at a local hospital.”
