Church hosts Easter egg hunt to celebrate the life of Christ

Prizes included Easter eggs, a golden cup for the runner-up and a golden egg for the winner.

The Cornerstone Christian Church in Snake Road recently hosted an Easter egg hunt to provide the congregation with a practical example of the meaning of Easter and a chance to win delicious chocolates.

A 15-minute time limit was given to all who wanted to participate in the hunt to find pieces of paper hidden in the churchyard.

The wording on the paper determined the prize.

Pastor Velile Sibisi said they hosted the hunt as an illustration and to educate the congregation about the life of Christ.

“The Easter eggs are made of chocolate and wrapped in colourful paper.

These colours represent the life and resurrection of Christ and are the focal point.

“When you remove the outside cover, you find the brown egg, which then indicates it was filled by Jesus’s grave that was covered by the tomb, and once you open the egg it is hollow inside, just like when they removed the tomb and found the grave empty. Thus, Jesus resurrected,” she explained.

Prizes included Easter eggs, a golden cup for the runner-up and a golden egg for the winner.
