BARC closes its doors after seven years

The social media post was compiled by Charmaine Woest and not Lauren Kelly, as previously stated.

Benoni Animal Rescue Centre (BARC) recently announced on social media that it will be closing its door after seven years of helping animals in need.

The post, compiled by Charmaine Woest, who was running BARC, read:

‘It’s with a very heavy heart that I am making this announcement. I will be closing BARC.

“First of all, to all our adoptive moms and dads, thank you for adopting our fur babies and giving them amazing homes filled with love and care. We certainly chose the best homes for them.

“As per our adoption contract, all pups will be sterilised at the age of five months.

“I will be in touch with you to arrange the sterilisations.

“To all the BARC supporters, BARC couldn’t have been so successful without your continued support. Financial contributions, food drives, donations received to raise funds at the charity shop, and to our special customers who supported our shop.

“To our foster moms and dads Jane Richman, Linda Leigh, Young Linda, Currin Margaret and Alan Mann, I was privileged to have you as part of BARC.

“You all took such great care of our fur family. You never once hesitated when called to foster.

“You gave them the privilege of what a home environment filled with love and care feels like, getting them ready for their forever homes.

“To my vet at Rynfield Veterinary Hospital, thank you for your support and for taking care of our animals.

“You were all the pillars of BARC.

“To Bev Brown from Almiche Grooming, thank you for grooming our BARC babies and making them beautiful for their new homes.

“To Connor, Micaela and Keegan, you were such amazing ambassadors for BARC. You joined as little children, and have grown so much over the years. I’m so proud of you.

“To all the volunteers who gave their time helping with outreach, packing food and sorting out the charity shop, thank you.

“To Matthew, who is still taking care of the animals with such great care, thank you.

“To Trevor from Mechtech and Trevmaine Trading, thank you for the years of support, building the kennels and cattery, for the vehicle sponsored, services and fuel for us to be able to continue with helping animals.

“In closing, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for walking the walk with me for seven years at BARC.

“All donations, financial and others will be distributed to organisations close to my heart, Purple Paws, Cat Village and Pug Rescue.”
