Kids Haven looking for sport coaches

Unfortunately, the children who live there aren’t able to get to designated sports grounds as logistically, due to the various ages of the children, Kids Haven is finding it difficult to drive them around.

Kids Haven, based in Cranbourne Avenue, wants to add sports to their activities to give the children the opportunity to engage in outside activities.

Unfortunately, the children who live there aren’t able to get to the various sports grounds as it is logistically difficult for the organisation to transport them there.

“We have children of all ages, from three upwards, but it is extremely difficult for us to drive children around to a multitude of activities, especially if they are 45 minutes to an hour long,” said fund-raising coordinator Susan Daly.

For this reason, Daly said they would like to find facilitators prepared to coach sport at the premises.

“Ideally, we would like coaches to commit to at least three months.

“We do have some funding available for this, but need to use it wisely.”

Saturdays are preferable and the sports they are looking at considering are:

• Martial arts/karate/judo.

• Ball activities for younger (and possibly older) children.

• Basketball.

• Gymnastics/tumbling

They are also interested in introducing cultural activities, such as chess and art.

Interested coaches/facilitators should email a short outline of their programme to Terri (education@kidshaven.co.za), along with the type of activity, frequency per week, duration of activity and preferred age group.
