Run a virtual Two Oceans for Kids Haven

Kids Haven are one of the charities that are encouraging people to run on behalf of them.

The Two Oceans Marathon (usually held on Easter Saturday) was postponed this year.

However, a virtual race for charity is being held that can be run anytime between March 30 and April 30.

Runners can choose distances from 5km to 20km.

Kids Haven is one of the charities that encourage people to run on behalf of them.

“At Kids Haven, we value education as one of our key priorities to secure the future for all of the vulnerable children living in our care,” said Susan Daly, the fund-raising coordinator for Kids Haven.

“But 2020 turned our world upside down and made us responsible to home school 157 children of all ages. We became the preschool teacher, the class teacher, the remedial teacher, the high school teacher and even a coach.

“We received hundreds of lessons via WhatsApp and online. It was tough but we did it!”
Kids Haven sits with a challenge of how to meet all the costs to keep the children in school now that things have slowly moved back to normal.

“This is where you come in,” she said.

“Join us in creating a new normal with your virtual Two Oceans race, so that we can have enough money to keep all of our children in school, meeting their grade requirements and ensuring that Kids Haven can be responsible ‘parents’ paying the school fees that are due.

“Step by step, kilometre by kilometre, your race keeps Kids Haven children in school this year.”
