Over R3-m set aside for Atlas Road rehab project

Rapid Construction has already started the project to rehabilitate the road between the Freeway and Boksburg East industrial area.

Motorists are warned of the anticipated traffic jam during peak hours as a result of the roadworks aimed at restoring Atlas Road to its former glory.

According to the metro spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, the road rehabilitation, between the N12 and Commissioner Street, entails breaking and patching existing potholes, cleaning the existing road and resurfacing with a new asphalt material.

The appointed contractor, Rapid Construction, started the work on March 31 and is expected to finish it within a month. The project will cost more than R3.2-million.

Ward 17 Councillor Simon Lapping also encourages road users to use alternative routes to ease the congestion on the road.
