Resident helps kids in needs

The event, she said, was a big success and the children had the time of their lives.

A spur of the moment thought turned into a special event for 62 underprivileged children from Boksburg when a resident arranged a Christmas celebration for them at the Palm Café, in Benoni recently.

With the help of friends, Isabell van Zyl organised the event with the aim of showing people who may be alone or not receive gifts that they are not forgotten over the festive season.

“I wanted to focus on the children and old people in our communities – who are often the poorest of the poor and don’t know where their next meal will be coming from – by giving something back to them,” she said.

The event, she said, was a big success and the children had the time of their lives.

Isabell thanked the following sponsors:

• Palms Café, Pretoria Road (venue, food and jumping castles)

• Lifestyle and Braai (lucky packets)

• Reënboog van Hoop (presents)

• Adriaan en Maryke (coldrinks)

• Lio (ice cream)

• Naomi and Bianca Pretorius (photographs)

• Pegasus Steel (transport).
