Event for homeless a winner

Due to the generosity of tenants, shoppers and a partnership with Benoni City Times, the drive secured enough donations to provide over 1 000 less fortunate with essentials to help them through winter.

Northmead Square, managed and owned by the Bentel Group, scooped a Gold Footprint Award at the annual Shopping Centre Counsel Awards 2020 and has been recognised for its community efforts by industry leaders.

The award was received for The Street Store 2019, where the mall undertook to provide a dignified shopping experience to the homeless in Benoni. The pop-up shop brought residents and the community together to assist those less fortunate.

Each person in need received clothing, shoes, blankets and toiletries and something to eat.

Due to the generosity of tenants, shoppers and a partnership with Benoni City Times, the drive secured enough donations to provide over 1 000 less fortunate with essentials to help them through winter.

The Bentel Group is extremely proud of the award and thanked the sponsors, shoppers and partners for their support in making The Street Store a success.
