Kids Haven helped to operate better

The home, which falls under the Mama’s Alliance umbrella, benefitted from the donated 778 infrared thermometers and 185 touchless hand sanitiser units which electronics manufacturer, Hisense, gave to Mama’s Alliance.

Hand sanitiser units and thermometers have become a necessity for businesses, NPOs and education centres that need these to be Covid-compliant, and Kids Haven were one of the beneficiaries of this gift.

The home, which falls under the Mama’s Alliance umbrella, benefitted from the donated 778 infrared thermometers and 185 touchless hand sanitiser units which electronics manufacturer, Hisense, gave to Mama’s Alliance recently.

Mama’s Alliance is a network of strong, reputable, independent and autonomous grassroots child care organisations with one common objective: to save more vulnerable children across South Africa from a hopeless future by providing them with a healthy, safe and stimulating environment for their continuous growth and development.

The Hisense team, with comedian and Hisense brand ambassador Weza Matomane, visited Kids Haven for the handover ceremony.

Weza took to the stage where he delivered an inspiring message to the children of Kids Haven.

He encouraged them to aim high no matter where they are from and to follow their dreams. He shared his personal story and how he overcame his challenges as a child.

Susan Daly, fund-raiser coordinator for Kids Haven, said this donation means their children’s home and the community ECD centres they support will reach the Covid-compliance requirements easily.

“This donation excites us as we have partnerships with small community-based organisations through the Ekurhuleni Welfare Forum, and this allows us to share thermometers and hand sanitiser units,” she said.

“The donation allows some of these ECD centres to re-open. This donation is going to help many children get back into school.

“We are truly grateful for this; we wouldn’t manage without this donation from Hisense.”

Jenine Whitehorn, marketing manager of Hisense, said: “We know this is only a drop in the ocean, but we will continue helping these NGOs as often as we can. Our next project is already in its planning phase.”
