In an attempt to assist students who are preparing for their exams, the Ekurhuleni metro has extended operating hours of the Daveyton and Vosloorus libraries to 9pm on weekdays.
Due to Covid-19 level one regulations, some libraries remain closed and those that are open only offer limited services to walk-in students wanting to study.
The metro’s spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, said a limited amount of students are allowed into the libraries to ensure proper social distancing.
“Only two slots are available weekdays, from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, while only Daveyton and Vosloorus are open until 9 pm.
“Unfortunately, due to logistics and the risk of exposure to the virus, no computer facilities can be used,” he said.
No entry is allowed without a mask and temperature readings and sanitising are required at the entrances.
