Farramere Primary learner bags three awards

Tayla will be attending Benoni High School in 2021, where she hopes to continue to excel in her music career.

Farrarmere Primary School Grade Seven learner Tayla McDonald won three of the six titles up for grabs at the Kempton Park Eisteddfod, hosted from July to November.

Tayla has always had her heart set on singing in an a cappella group or sing in a Disney movie. While aspiring to make her dreams come true, she has been singing in the Farrarmere Primary School choir since she was seven years old.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no spectators were allowed. Only the judges, the participant and vocal coaches were allowed in the venue.

She entered six items and ended as the Grade Seven section winners in three of her items in the following categories: traditional, contemporary and Broadway.

Ronell Erasmus, who has been Tayla’s vocal coach since March 2019, said she has grown so much in just a year.

“She has excellent control in her notes and her confidence grows daily.”

She added that Tayla is building in her high register but her low register is rich and smooth.

“She is incredibly talented and will be a remarkable singer one day,” she concluded.

Tayla will be attending Benoni High School in 2021, where she hopes to continue to excel in her music career.
