Local community development club appeals for school shoe donations

The club was formed in March, after lockdown was implemented, to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Ubuntu Social Club is appealing to the public for school shoe donations for the learners from Daveyton and Etwatwa.

The community development club will be participating in the Colgate virtual 15km race on October 18.

Itireleng Sepula, chairperson of the club, said each kilometre will earn a pair of shoes.

The club was formed in March, after lockdown was implemented, to lend a helping hand to those in need.

“Ubuntu is a group of seven dedicated individuals who come together for the common goal of making a difference in the lives of the youth and elderly in the community of Daveyton and Etwatwa,” said Sepula.

They recently donated about 150 sanitary pads to girls from Sazakhela Primary School in Barcelona, Etwatwa.

Anyone who would like to donate may contact Sepula on 062 558 5056 or Gift on 079 539 1217 or visit their Facebook page Ubuntu Social Club and Community Development.
