Four wanted for CBD armed robbery

No arrests were made and no injuries reported.

The Benoni police are investigating a case of armed robbery after a woman and her son were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash on October 13 in Harpur Avenue, Benoni CBD, around 10.30am.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said according to the 83-year-old woman, she was driving from Carnival Mall with her 65-year-old son and they stopped their vehicle outside Pauline Davis Court.

“A silver/grey Audi A3 stopped next to them. Four men exited the vehicle, two who were armed with firearms threatened them,” said Sekele.

“They then took the undisclosed amount of money from them, went back to their vehicle and drove off.”

Sekele said it is believed they were followed from the bank.

No arrests were made and no injuries reported.

The spokesperson said they are urging people to refrain from withdrawing large sums of money as we are getting closer to the festive season and criminals are using every opportunity they get to rob others.
