Three men, aged between 30 and 38, were arrested on July 29 in connection with a house robbery and rape which happened in Crystal Park the day before.
SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli said it is alleged that on July 28, the victim was outside her gate checking the water meter when she was approached by three men claiming to be selling clothing.
The woman told them she didn’t have money to buy clothing.
“As she was walking toward the outside room on the property in which she stays, one of the men took out a knife and instructed her to get inside the room, and then raped her. He stole six cellphones and a power bank before fleeing.”
Police received a tip-off about the robbers’ whereabouts and Capt Siyabonga Zulu and Sgt Mopeli arrested two of the suspects, while WO Phafane Ratela arrested the third suspect on July 30.
A case of house robbery and rape was opened at the Crystal Park Police Station.
