Arrests and recoveries for Benoni Flying Squad over busy weekend

Officers arrested four people for contravening the Disaster Management Act

Benoni Flying Squad officers made nine arrests and recovered a firearm, loaded with three live rounds of ammunition, and six vehicles over the weekend.

“Officers arrested four people for contravening the Disaster Management Act, in Geldenhuis Street, Putfontein, Elm Street, Creslawn and Mocke and Dubula streets, Daveyton,” said BFS spokesperson WO Grant Giblin. “Cigarettes and liquor were confiscated and some of the suspects will face additional charges of bribery and possession of drugs, as they were found in possession of dagga and crystal methamphetamine.”

Officers also followed up on information which led to Ngwane Street, Tsakane, where they recovered a white Citi Golf reported stolen in Crystal Park and arrested a suspect.

In Midrand, officers responding to information received arrested two suspects in Old Pretoria Road after the white Nissan Navara they were travelling in turned out to be reported stolen in Kameeldrift.

“BFS officers and Putfontein SAPS also reacted to a complaint in Mayfield Extension Eight. Two suspects wanted for a robbery and murder that took place in Barcelona, Etwatwa, were arrested,” said Giblin. “An unlicenced 9mm Luka pistol with three rounds of ammunition was confiscated on the scene.”

In further policing, four abandoned vehicles were recovered:

  1. A silver Toyota Corolla, in Ext One, Ebony Park, which was hijacked in Pretoria.
  2. A white Mazda Drifter, in Kayt Street, Rabie Ridge, which was reported hijacked in the same area.
  3. A blue Citi Golf, in Danie Taljaard Park, which was reported hijacked in Benoni.
  4. A white Audi A3, in Hospital View, Tembisa, which was reported stolen in Bedfordview.

The suspects are aged between 22 and 33.
