Women’s church group donates to orphanage in Kingsway

Simamisa Orphans Care was started by my mother who died on April 5 and has since been in need of assistance

The Benoni Women in Christ Ministry Movement donated blankets and a cash voucher to Simamisa Orphans Care in Kingsway on July 22.

The Christian group of women decided to contribute money as a team in order to give back to the needy community members.

“We are inspired by the love of God. We are a group of women, approximately 60 members, who decided to come together and join hands to give back during this trial times. As believers of Christ we are greatly inspired by Jesus in the book of Matthew 25:40,” said pastor Pauline Brier, founder of Women in Christ Ministry Movement. “It is in our best interest to continue to help those who cannot help themselves at any given time.”

The church donated ten blankets and one duvet cover and they are looking forward to donating more. They also made donations at Rose Mary Dabula Old Age Home in Daveyton.

“We are grateful for the help that we received. Simamisa was started by my mother who died on April 5 and ever since things have not been going so great. I have struggled to change ownership of the place in order to access social grants. The offices are closed currently so the ladies arrived at a much needed time,” said Karabo Mohapi, project manager at Simamisa Orphans Care.

“They donated blankets and a cash voucher which we needed at this time for the needs of the children. We are mostly reliant on Sonto Mahlangu who assist us when she can. We would appreciate if they can carry on helping the community and better the lives of children. Meanwhile we are still in need of nutrition, toiletry, food, clothes for the children, and cleaning material for the children’s welfare,” she added.

As for Mahlangu, assistant at the orphanage, she usually donates food and anything she can to better the lives of the children at the home.

“I am motivated by the love of people. First of all we are Christians and also in the spirit of ubuntu we cannot turn a blind when we have the means to assist those who are in need of our help,” said Mahlangu. “I love people, I love children, and I do it for the love of God. I would appreciate if other community members would play a part in contributing to giving back to the needy. These children deserve a meal as well, and they deserve comfort and to be taken care of,” she added.
