The City Times visited Tom Newby Primary School and Laerskool Rynfield on July 8.
Laerskool Rynfield principal Walter Jansen van Rensburg said only half of the Grade R and Six learners, which were group one, were back at school from July 6.
The other half (group two) will come back the following week.
“Group one will then stay at home and learn online,” said Jansen van Rensburg.
The grades will rotate so that we don’t have too many learners at the school.
He said the learners get screened when they arrive, their temperatures are taken about three to four times a day, they sanitise their hands continuously and only the teachers rotate classes.
