Man arrested for selling illicit cigarettes in Mayfield

The man was then arrested and he is expected to appear at the Daveyton Magistrate's Court soon.

The Putfontein police are calling on businesses to adhere to lockdown regulations and to desist from conducting businesses that are not permitted during lockdown.

This comes after a 29-year-old man was arrested for trading non-essential good at his business on June 30 at Mayfield Extension One.

Spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said police received information that a local shop was selling non-essential goods. The officers then acted swiftly and went to search the store.

Police confiscated the illicit cigarettes, which were found at the shop.

The man was then arrested and he is expected to appear at the Daveyton Magistrate’s Court soon.
