Man dies of smoke inhalation in Putfontein

Paramedics certified the man dead on scene.

Police have opened an inquest docket after a man died of smoke inhalation inside his backroom on June 20 at Mayfield Extension Five in Putfontein.

Spokesperson Sgt Raider Ubisi said it is alleged that the deceased was drinking with his brother until late when he went to sleep in his backroom.

“A burning fire brazier was inside the room.

“His family members found him lying unconscious on his bed,” said Ubisi.
