Law enforcement agencies lay down law in Daveyton and Etwatwa

The law enforcement agencies conducted this operation as part of a holistic approach.

The Daveyton SAPS, EMPD and Gauteng Traffic Police held a stop-and-search roadblock in parts of Daveyton and Etwatwa on June 2 from 7am to 4pm as part of lockdown policing operations.

Daveyton SAPS Vispol commander Lt Col Mack Mngomezulu explained the operation was focused on alcohol, drugs and monitoring the numberof people in vehicles.

He added that similar operations in Ekurhuleni since the start of lockdown have proven highly effective and impactful.

People not adhering to the lockdown regulations were arrested.

The operation will also be active in other areas of Ekurhuleni, like Springs and Kwa-Thema, to ensure people are complying, Mngomezulu said.

“Since the sale of alcohol became legal again on June 1, we found it important to police the use of alcohol by motorists to ensure the safety of others”
