Etwatwa Police Women’s Network gives back to the community during Covid-19

The Women's Network managed to give the food parcels to 10 families in the area.

On May 6, the Etwatwa Police Women’s Network embarked on a social crime-prevention initiative of giving food parcels to those who are in need.

The initiative strives to ensure peace and harmony in Etwatwa.According to the spokesperson of the Etwatwa police station, Const Khensani Maluleka, most of the people believe that their problems will be solved when they come to the station.

“Since the Covid-19 started, people have been coming to us to enquire about food parcels and we do refer those who want help to relevant stakeholders, but as Women’s Network we felt the need to give back to the community.”

This is another gesture made by the police to rebuild the relationship they have with the community they serve.

“We believe that the root cause of some crimes are social-related matters, so we work with the community and understand the dynamics of our community,”

“We do not only focus on arresting, but also try to curb crime from being committed through social crime- prevention initiatives, just like the food parcels one, said Maluleka”.

The Women’s Network managed to give the food parcels to 10 families in the area.

“We are happy with what we have managed to give out since every member in this initiative took courage to give out what they have in order to buy the food”.
