Residents can now adopt their furry friends from animal organisations

It is essential to have a copy of your ID and proof of residence for adoptions.

Animal organisations have been filled since the start of the lockdown, which has left a lot of animals now seeking for new loving homes.The SPCA, The Animal Guardians, and Purple Red Paws have announced that these animals can now be adopted.

Appointments must be made telephonically to view the animals up for adoption.

Each appointment may only be limited to half an hour as to abide by the rules of social distancing and a limited amount of people in one place.

No entry will be given to anyone without an appointment unless it’s an emergency.

The following conditions need to be applied during the lockdown upon entering the organisations:

Everyone must sign in, temperature check and sanitise at the reception first and masks must be worn at all times.

• Once your temperature has been checked, which has to be below 37 degrees, the register is complete, hands have been sanitised and masks are worn can they proceed to the kennels.

• When you have chosen the animal of your choice, you may proceed to reception with the kennel number or description of the animal you have chosen and socialisations of the existing home animals by arrangement.

• An application to adopt will be emailed to you, where you complete it and return via email, or you can complete the form at the time of the visit.

• During your visit, you may meet with the animals.

• A home check will be completed by appointment to ensure suitability for the animal of your choice.

The inspectors will be wearing masks and will sanitise before entering your property.

• If approved by inspectors, you will then be required to sign the adoption forms and adoption fee payment must be made as soon as possible to secure adoption.

• The animal you have chosen will then move to the next stage – sterilisation, microchip and vaccination.
