Spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said when the woman was supposed to start paying off the vehicle, she pawned the car so that she could receive money to pay the instalments.

“However, she then asked the owner of the pawn shop to rather buy the vehicle,” said Sekele.

“The man then bought the vehicle and the woman gave him all the vehicle documents.”

Sekele said the vehicle was later found in Boksburg.

“It was then established by the bank that the woman bought the vehicle with a false ID and she also used a false address,” she said.

Police urge members of the public to assist them in tracing the alleged suspect.
