Two arrested for violating the lockdown regulations in Crystal Park

The duo was arrested for being in possession of alcohol and cigarettes to the value of R2 000.

Two men aged 18 and 19 were arrested for the violation of the Disaster Management Act regulations which addresses, prevent and combat the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19) on April 7 in Crystal Park.

Spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mopeli said the two men were arrested by the police while patrolling around the area.

“They were found loitering in the street without valid reasons,” said Mopeli.

“Residents are advised to abide by the lockdown regulations or there will be consequences.”

Mopeli explained that the violated regulation 11B (1) (a) clearly stipulates that for the period of the lockdown every person is confined to his or her place of residence, unless strictly for the purpose of performing or obtaining essential goods or services.
