#Lockdown: Applications for temporary trading permissions closed

To minimise the movement of people as required by the Covid-19 regulations, 876 applications have been recommended for approval and 1 203 were rejected

The Ekurhuleni metro closed applications for temporary trading permissions on April 14 to make room for the processing of applications already received.

The metro’s spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, said the metro received 2 079 applications.

“To minimise the movement of people as required by the Covid-19 regulations, 876 applications have been recommended for approval and 1 203 were rejected.

“The traders whose applications have been approved will be contacted from April 15 to collect their temporary trading permissions,” Gadebe said.

The amended Covid-19 regulation was issued on April 2, which made provision for grocery stores, wholesale produce market, including spaza shops and informal traders, to trade during the lockdown.
