Almond Tree needs your donations

The Almond Tree takes care of several babies.

South Africa may be in lockdown, but we know the hearts of Benonians are not.

The Almond Tree is calling on the community to support them by donating essential goods for their children.

“If you are in a position to help by donating any of the items on our needs list, we would be truly grateful,” said the home’s development manager, Zina Rotherham.

“The lockdown has made it very difficult for us to continue the usual stream of donations we receive from our community, and we have to be creative in these times to ensure that our babies and children still receive the best care possible.”

Rotherham said Pick n Pay Oakfields has kindly agreed to act as the drop-off point for those who would like to contribute to their needs.

“There will be two branded boxes near the pay points where donations can be dropped,” Rotherham said.

The essential items most needed are nappies (sizes two, three, four and five), baby wipes, baby soap, Vaseline, maize meal, rice, pasta, long-life full cream milk, peanut butter, tinned pilchards, cooking oil, tinned beans, tinned tomatoes, stock cubes and oats.
