In my case it has caused a panic since we will be under pressure when we re-open. We did not get a chance to be tested, there were protests going on so we did not cover what was needed to be done before recess. So I am currently doing my utmost to do self study. Sphamandla Nongwe, a first-year student at the University of South Africa, said: What a bad year to start my studies. The corona pandemic has put a lot at stake, but on my side I am not much affected as I do long-distance learning, but we used to have study groups with my peers which were effective. I have not experienced my first exam at university because of this virus. Palesa Chidi, third-year student at the Tshwane University of Technolygy, said: The 21-day lockdown is going to affect my studies because we cannot have our lectures anymore and I am doing a block course where I attend twice a month and now I cannot do that, so it is going to set me back. Lindani Laing, a second-year student at Benoni Technical College, said: The corona issue has not affected my studies negatively because I got a chance to write my exams for the term before the lockdown, but I must admit that when we re-open there will be pressure to deal with because already we are late for the second term. Noxolo Msipha: The situation has affected me so bad because I am currently in Grade 12 at Petit High School and there is a lot to be done for the syllabus. I am losing focus at some point as I come across many disturbances at home. I am used to be taught then study after, now I need to do everything on my own and it is hard to understand some chapters.
