Etwatwa model is pretty determined

She started modelling at the tender age of seven when she entered Miss Valentine at Tshipi-noto Primary School.

Goal-driven Tshegofatso Msibi (12), of Etwatwa, has proven that through passion and consistency any obstacle can be overcome.

Tshegofatso is a semi-finalist in the Junior Miss Legacy South Africa 2020 pageant, which was scheduled to take place in April, but has been postponed due to the coronanvirus pandemic.

Her life motto is that it is not about looks, age, financial status or gender – if you believe in what you are doing and in yourself, you will make it happen.

She started modelling at the tender age of seven when she entered Miss Valentine at Tshipi-noto Primary School.

“I have experienced a lack of confidence on stage and felt intimidated by other models because they come from agencies,” Tshegofatso said.

“I thought perhaps I am not good enough to be here because I am self-trained.”

Despite challenges, Tshegofatso now holds three titles – Miss Valentine second princess 2016 (school pageant), Miss Tshipi-noto queen 2018 and Miss Face of Daveyton pre-teen second princess 2019.

“I have always been passionate about modelling, but I was shy and did not know where to start,” she said.

“My mom has always supported me as a mentor, since she cannot afford to get me into a modelling agency.”

Tshegofatso uses video tutorials and guidelines from her mother to improve her modelling.

The ambitious youngster is inspired by Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi, as she sees her true reflection in her.

“I believed in myself even more after seeing Zozibini take the crown.

“I told myself that if she can do it then it is also possible for a black child like me,” she said.

Tshegofatso is currently in second place in the Junior Miss Legacy South Africa 2020 voting poll, with 1 000 votes.

“The best way to move forward is to realise how far you have come,” are her words of inspiration to other young girls.
