Owner gets help to rescue dog from manhole

Isis showed no signs of injuries at the time of her rescue.

What could have been a tragedy turned into a victory when a female cross Labrador named Isis was rescued after she fell into a three metre-deep manhole.

On the morning of March 23, Northmead resident Tiffany Odendaal took Isis for her daily walk next to the Benoni tennis and netball courts, where the dog fell into the manhole.

Workers from a nearby building site came to assist Tiffany with her rescue mission to get the dog out.

Victor Mwale came up with the idea to use a tennis court net to lift Isis, while Tiffany climbed down the ladder to pick her up.

Tiffiany is very grateful to Victor, Keith and the bystanders who rushed to her aid with a ladder.

“I don’t know how I would have rescued our girl without their help,” she said.
