Hospice clearance a huge hit

The sale was open to Hospice staff and the public, and goods were sold at a fraction of their regular price.

Hospice East Rand, based in Benoni, hosted its clearance sale of donated clothes on February 28 to raise funds. The money will go towards caring for people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

The sale was open to Hospice staff and the public, and goods were sold at a fraction of their regular price.

Hospice regularly receives donated clothing and second-hand items which are resold to raise funds.

I have been a customer of Hospice for more than 10 years. The sale is a bargain. I just bought shoes which were originally priced at R300 for only R30!

“The items sold are always affordable and of good quality, and shoppers are supporting sick people,” said Lungile Magagula.

I do not have clothing accounts, because they are too expensive.

“However, I can wear expensive clothes for much cheaper by shopping at Hospice.

“I recommend this shopping experience to everyone,” she added.

The Hospice shop operates in 10 towns across Ekurhuleni.

Carol Simoni, a fund-raiser at Hospice East Rand, said they have 11 shops that distribute clothes to raise funds.

Every Christmas we have a toy fair. All the toys are recycled and given to children during the holiday season.

“We wrap some of them and sell them for a cheaper price in order to give every child an opportunity to have toys at Christmas,” she explained.

The next East Rand Hospice clearance sale, at which winter clothing for men and women will be on sale, will be announced in June.
