Young Daveyton lawyer cream of the crop

The 26-year-old said it is a propeller to do many great things in the future.

Sphesihle Nxumalo, a young corporate lawyer, is honoured to have made it to number 23 of the 100 Most Influential Young South Africans 2019 list.

Nxumalo was nominated in the law and governance category.

The Most Influential Young South Africans initiative is an annual award, and a ranking scheme for young South African achievers between the ages of 15 and 40. It is spearheaded by Avance Media and other partners. It is intended to bring out the true and genuine potential of young people who are serious about creating a better future for South Africa.

The Daveyton-based lawyer thanked everyone who voted for him.

“It’s an incredible honour to have been voted by the masses, and a special shout out to my Daveytonians who rallied behind me from what I saw on social media. Ngiyabonga (thank you),” said Nxumalo.

“Being placed in the top 30 was such an electrifying moment; it’s the public that decides how you are placed at the end of the day. It feels like a vote of confidence, and I take it running.”

The 26-year-old said it is a propeller to do many great things in the future.

“I will build on this honour, and hopefully for many others as well.

“The aim is to continue towering, and to play a key role in society, and I don’t take this lightly.

“As for my career, I can only hope my prospective clients are watching, and will come to one of the youngest influential lawyers in the country for deals,” he said.

Nxumalo’s message to young people is: “When you get a slight chance to sit it out or dance, always dance.

“To put this into shape, young people are faced with so many challenges, and getting some ‘rhythm’ in one’s life is frustratingly difficult.

“But in all that, strengthen up young kings and queens, and do your best.”
