O kae molao operation still continues

The operations are a continuation of the festive season operation, which will end in March

In ongoing operations to stop illegal mining, three illegal immigrants were arrested, and liquor, cigarettes, counterfeit goods, explosives, and dagga plants were seized on February 13 on the N12 near the Putfontein off-ramp.

The operation was conducted by the members of the Ekurhuleni district police stations led by Brig Thabo Mphuti, EMPD, Department of Mineral Resources and a local security company.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said this was part of the O kae molao (where is the law) operation.

“The main focus was on road blocks, non-compliance of liquor act and second-hands goods, drugs and illegal mining,” said Sekele.

Traffic fines to the value of R10 500 were issued, J534 fines for non-compliance on second-hands goods and liquor acts to the value of R9 500 were issued.

Eleven phendukas, seven phenduka stands, three steel pots and three bags with iron balls were confiscated.

Sekele said the operations are a continuation of the festive season operation, which will end in March.
