Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the woman was arrested on February 4 for allegedly raping a 13-year-old boy who was a learner at a primary school where the woman was an intern in the finance department.

The case was reported at the Putfontein SAPS in November 2019.

“It is alleged that the woman’s husband reported the matter to the school principal after he saw messages from her cellphone,” said Sekele.

“The principal alerted the boy’s parents and they opened the case.”

Sekele said the woman was arrested when the Benoni Family Voilence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) conducted a suspects-tracing operation under the command of Lt Col Cecile Veldman.

“Six suspects were arrested for different sexual offences during the operation, including the woman,” she said.

The station commander, Brig Ntakuseni Lukhwareni, said they appeal to parents to monitor their children’s behaviour at all times.
