Recycler stabbed to death in Actonville

The deceased allegedly had a fight with the suspect over the empty bottles they were collecting for recycling.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with a murder and robbery on December 9 in Birmingham Road, Actonville.

Acting police spokesperson Sgt Godin Nyathi said the man allegedly stabbed a recycler, believed to be in his early 30s, in Singh Street.

“The deceased allegedly had a fight with the suspect over the empty bottles they were collecting for recycling.

“The suspect fled the scene after stabbing the recycler and later robbed another recycler at knifepoint,” Nyathi said.

“Police were called to this scene, where they attempted to arrest the suspect.

“He resisted arrest and during the ensuing scuffle, Const Thabiso Senne was attacked with a knife.

“The suspect was shot in the foot during the commotion and then surrendered to police.”
