Snake Road will remain closed well into 2020

A media briefing regarding the sinkhole was held on site on November 19

The sinkhole on Snake Road has doubled in depth and width since it was first identified on November 2, according to Xolani Mngomezulu, an engineer from Aseda Consulting Engineers.

During a media briefing on November 11 with Gauteng MEC for Public Transport and Roads Infrastructure Jacob Mamabolo, it was established that the road will still be closed by June 2020.

According to the geotechnical team that was onsite during the briefing, a final report will be delivered on December 12 which will indicate what needs to be done and the expected time of completion.
