Tools on the app include being able to capture videos or pictures of suspects or other illegal activities and all relevant information.

“It is a very good app and some officers already downloaded it and are and using it,” said Benoni SAPS communications officers Capt Nomsa Sekele.

“The app is a good idea because the community can easily engage with the police.

“Community members can also alert us to criminal activity and there is an option to remain anonymous.

“It is important to remember that while you can report incidents on the app, victims of crime must also report the matter at their nearest police station for investigation.

“We at the Benoni SAPS encourage Benonians to get the app.”

The new app allows citizens to interact with law enforcement officials more effectively by:

• Providing tip-offs anonymously through the app

• Finding nearest police stations and facilities

• Having quick access to all the SAPS social media platforms.

The MySAPS app is available for android and iOS users.
