Marchers raise awareness about GBV

According to organisers, the purpose of the march was to give warning and send a strong message to perpetrators, to stop gender-based violence.

The EMPD and SAPS officers recently escorted Modderbee Correctional Services management and staff members along Modderbee Road in a peaceful march to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

“Between 8am and 12pm in the Kingsway area, about 100 law enforcement officers and community members participated in the permitted and peaceful march,” said EMPD spokesperson, Kobeli Mokheseng.
