Northfield Methodist Church charity shop in need of volunteers

The shop is a container that was donated by the Rotary Club of Benoni Aurora.

The Northfield Methodist Church charity shop has been running for almost six months and is in need of more volunteers, this according to volunteer Ruth Kiely.

A sign board for operating times is needed for the outside of the shop.

Operating on a Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 12pm, the charity shop currently has around four volunteers and is located on the church premises in Aerodrome Drive.

“The idea is about being able to offer good second-hand items to the community at a moderate cost,” said Ruth.

“Anything that comes in is repurposed.

“The church has a repurposing network and the charity shop is an example of that.”

Among the list of needs the shop has is electricity and signage for stepping into the shop.

“All items donated come from the congregation and the community.

“Proceeds collected from the sale of items go towards mission and outreach work run by the church.

“This includes feedings, primary healthcare and education.

“Items available for sale include toys, electrical appliances and clothing and whatever cannot be sold is donated to other charities.”
