Stokvel members kitted out for a celebration

Members all received T-shirts and caps, a full lunch, enjoyed entertainment and could enter into lucky draws for big prizes from the suppliers who exhibited at the event.

The Benoni Kit Kat store held a massive celebration for its stokvel members on the premises on Saturday (October 12) with no less than 1 000 members arriving to join the fun.

Stokvel forms a big part of the group’s business, and they have over 16 000 members on their database, explained Junaid Gani, chief financial officer.

“We are trusted by stokvel members, and it is a pleasure for us to host this no-strings-attached event for them, simply to say thank you for their support.

“They will have the chance to interact with suppliers today and it is a wonderful opportunity for suppliers to promote their brands and for all of us to bond as a team in the work we do together to help stokvels,” said Gani.

Wattville stokvel member Angela Table said there are 70 members in the stokvel she belongs to.

“It is really a wonderful way to save and invest as a community,” she said.

“We are able to plan for big events and use our joint buying power to get the best deals.

“I am very excited to be part of this celebration today as Kit Kat opening in Benoni has helped our stokvel a lot.”

The management of Kit Kat present on the day concurred that Benoni has been good to them since the store opened almost a year ago.

“This community is friendly and welcoming and we feel our presence in Benoni has revived the CBD,” said Gani.
