Local school to receive handwashing basins on Global Handwashing Day

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), at any given time, more than half of the developing world’s population is suffering from one or more of the main diseases associated with unsafe water, poor sanitation and hygiene.

Tomorrow (October 15) is Global Handwashing Day.

In its efforts to promote and advocate good hand health habits, Dettol is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases.

As part of this campaign, tomorrow the Dettol team is heading off to Kuzimisela Primary School in Daveyton to teach the learners about the importance of washing hands and the lifesaving choice that washing hands is.

Dettol is also donating handwashing stations to the school.

The impact of inadequate hand hygiene includes millions of child deaths and a significant lag on improving children’s health and life prospects, said UNICEF.
