Bunny Park Rescue Group is grateful for the support

As part of their campaign to raise funds, they will continue to run with flash hampers and a portion of the funds raised will go to Shalom Animal Rescue.

Bunny Park Rescue Group is involved in the rescue and rehoming of bunnies that have come out of the Benoni Bunny Park and in-and-around the Benoni area.

Tania Forrest-Smith, founder of the Bunny Park Rescue Group, said: “Our specific interest has always been the Bunny Park, but most of the real work regarding animal rescue was completed some time back.”

As a volunteer group, they continue to be actively involved in bunny rescue and their recent activities to raise awareness and funds for the sterilisation and rehoming of the bunnies.

They were gifted two stalls by YC EVENTS (East Rand Crafters Market) for the Spring Fair, which raised R1 800 on the day. Most items sold were donated by members of the public, which included baked goods, bunny-related items and clothing.

During the day, they were also able to approve an immediate adoption of which a home check was not required as the family had adopted previously, a further four home checks were booked.

R400 of the money raised was allocated to Shalom Animal Rescue, based in Schweizer-Reneke.

The organisation is run by Joan Nel, who is in desperate need of support in her community.

More details of her amazing work can be seen on her Facebook Page (https://m.facebook.com/shalomanimalrescuecentre/).

“The success that this volunteer group has enjoyed would not have been possible without the massive support of various organisations. Their financial and specialised contributions have enabled us to accomplish so much more than we ever possibly hoped to do without their assistance,” said Tania.
