Man arrested for biting and swallowing girlfriend’s finger

The 32-year-old will appear in the Daveyton Magistrates Court on Monday (September 23).

A man was arrested today (September 21) at around noon after he bit and ate his girlfriends finger on September 18 in Mayfield.

“The victim was asleep at her place of residence in Zenzele, Mayfield when her boyfriend knocked at her door,” said Putfontein SAPS spokesperson Const Raider Ubisi.

“The victim’s son opened the door and the suspect entered the residence, looking for his girlfriend.

“The victim alleges that he grabbed her son by the neck and pushed him away.

“The suspect picked up a brick and assaulted his girlfriend with it on her back.

Ubisi said the suspect then grabbed his girlfriend’s hand, bit and cut off a piece of her finger and swallowed it.

“The victim was rushed to hospital for medical assistance and a case of assault, GBH and domestic violence was registered at Putfontein SAPS,” said Ubisi.

Putfontein SAPS station commander Lt Col Wellington Mathiane expressed his shock and anger.

He labelled the incident an an act of cowardice and one that is barbaric and inhumane.
