Purple Red Paws need food donations for their furry friends

To drop off or arrange a visit to see the animals, contact Zalita on 076 412 2962

Purple Red Paws, a rescue rehabilitation centre based in Zesfontein, is currently home to 80 dogs, 30 cats, two goats, two sheep and a donkey.

They opened their home to these vulnerable animals in 2016. Co-founder Zalita Laas said they started the organisation because they saw a lot of neglected animals that needed help.

Marisa Meano, co-founder, has a full-time job of supporting the organisation, which leaves the feeding and grooming of the animals to Zalita and Patrick Katungar.

Monthly vet bills at the organisation come up to R10 000 to R15 000.

Dogs and cats at the organisation are up for adoption, and Zalita has a very strict policy as she wants all the animals in her care to go to a better home than what she can give them.

She spends a lot of time with and gives each animal special attention and hopes an adopting family will do the same.

Residents are welcome to visit these furry friends at their home in 159 Meerkat Street, Zesfontein.

Dogs or cats adopted will be sterilised and up to date with all vaccinations.

Home inspections are done by Zalita.

Donations of dog and cat food are welcomed.
