FOLLOW UP: Skeletal remains identified
The cause of death is unknown and the remains were released to the family.
Benoni SAPS spokesperson Capt Nomsa Sekele said the skeletal remains found in a house in Heron Street, Mackenzie Park, on July 3 belonged to the homeowner, Fatima Mathebula.

According to Sekele, Mathebula’s daughter confirmed that the skeletal remains belonged to her mother “by looking at the structure of the bones and because she had lived alone”.
“All Mathebula’s children were traced and informed of the death of their mother.”
Mathebula had not been seen for almost two years before her remains were found.
