Department shows its appreciation for principals

The appreciation lunch included entertainment by learners and talks by motivational speakers.

The Ekurhuleni North District office of education, situated in the CBD, hosted a Principal’s Appreciation Luncheon for Academic Excellence on July 26 at the Chief Albert Luthuli Smart School.

Minister of Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga honoured the district with a certificate in recognition of consistent qualitative and quantitative academic performance in the National Senior Certification Examination over the past five years (2014 to 2018).

The district is among the top six consistently performing above 85 per cent nationally.

As a token of appreciation and gratitude, the Ekurhuleni North District director, Nonceba Ntuta, shared a variety of achievements with principals from the district.

“The success of the district office over the years is due to the good relations our office has established with the principals and through the commitment, diligence, determination, empathy and professionalism they have displayed in achieving academic excellence,” she said

James Makhubu, principal of Unity Secondary School, in Daveyton, received acknowledgement for his outstanding performance.

Unity Secondary School principal James Makhubu received a framed letter of acknowledgement from the Ekurhuleni North District director.

A framed letter presented to him by Ntuta read:

“Your outstanding and consistent work effort in producing outstanding results in the National Teaching Awards is admirable.

“You have represented our district and province at national level with pride and remarkable excellence,” she said

Makhubu has excelled in the following categories nationally:

• Excellence in Secondary School Leadership (2015).

• LifeTime Achievement Award (2016).

• Kader Asmal Award (2017).

The event ended with complimentary massages for guests.
