Gryphon Enterprise Development has been appointed by the Gryphon Foundation to facilitate their internship programme and place young individuals in small businesses in Benoni.

They invite small businesses in Benoni to apply to get a fully sponsored intern placed in their business for a period of six months.

Applicants will be screened against prescribed criteria and receive communication from Gryphon upon acceptance.

Gryphon is registered with SARS as a Public Benefit Organisation.

The criteria:

• The business must be based in Benoni.

• The business must have a physical address.

• The business must be viable and self-sustainable.

• The business must adhere to ethical business practices and labour relations.

The Gryphon Foundation aims to support enterprise development initiatives among unemployed youth that lack the necessary qualifications and experience for gainful employment, as well as SMMEs that require critical strategic thinking skills.

The Gryphon Foundation will cover the following costs:

• The intern’s stipend.

• The mentor’s travelling cost.

• All Gryphon Enterprise Development administration.

Approved applicants are expected to commit to the internship programme in the following manner:

• Approved applicants agree to contract with one intern, for a period of six months.

• Approved applicants commit to assist Gryphon in drawing up an on-the-job development plan for the intern.

• The approved applicants agree to faithfully train the intern as per the agreed development plan.

• The approved applicants commit to honour scheduled monthly meetings via either telephone or face-to-face with Gryphon to conduct intern performance reviews.

• The approved applicants commit to assisting Gryphon with the drawing up of a comprehensive reference report and reference letter.

• The approved applicants must commit to appointing an individual in the business that the intern will report to.

Should your business meet the above selection criteria and be willing to engage in a growth process with the relevant training, coaching and mentorship intervention over a six month period, get an application form by emailing mpho@gryphondevelopment.co.za, complete the application and attach a company profile and return these to the same email address.

About the Gryphon Internship Programme:

• Launched the pilot programme in August 2016.

• Deployed a total of 21 interns to date.

• 18 completed the full six-month programme (90 per cent).

• 17 were offered employment after programme completion (85 per cent).

• 13 (65 per cent) with participating employers (continued after internship).

• Four with external employers (20 per cent).

• Current employment update (65 per cent).

• 13 Permanently employed (65 per cent).

• 58 profiled internship candidates to date.
