#MandelaDay – Business gives back to disabled persons in Daveyton
The association is a non-profit organisation that specialises in helping the physically disabled to become economically empowered.
The staff of Corner Life, an insurance company based in Johannesburg, took time off to give back to the community as part of their 67 Minutes for Mandela Day, on July 18.
The business donated food, board games and sewing machines to the Daveyton Association for the Physically Disabled, and its staff spent some time with the beneficiaries and cleaned and cooked for them.

Corner Life marketing assistant Noluthando Dlamini said they chose to give back to the Daveyton Association for the Physically Disabled because disabled people are often overlooked and not much is done for them.
Dlamini challenged other businesses to lend a helping hand to non-profit organisations in need, especially in the townships.
Thabang Sibeko of the Daveyton Association for the Physically Disabled said they appreciate every donation they receive as they are really in need.
“Two months ago we had a break-in at the centre and that was a setback for us as we lost computers, sewing machines, office equipment and electrical appliances,” said Sibeko.
“We urge the community and local businesses to assist us wherever they can.”
